ABOUT
Dena McCullagh London really came from years of frustration.
I’m 4’11”, and for most of my life clothes have just never fitted me properly. For years, I didn’t question the clothes. I thought I was the issue. I was too short, I was the wrong proportion, and it was my body that didn’t fit what was hanging on the rails.
Over time, it became a real insecurity of mine. I actually started to hate shopping. I would see clothes I loved, try them on and be reminded all over again that they just didn’t work on me.
When the clothes available in shops consistently don’t fit you, you don’t necessarily question the clothes. You question yourself.
So I learnt to make things work. Cropped trousers became full length, midi dresses became maxi dresses, sleeves were always too long and having things altered just became normal.
But shortening something doesn’t change the proportions of the whole garment. The waist, the knee, the pockets, the shoulders — everything still needs to sit in the right place.
Then I started watching my daughter go through the same thing.
She’s 5’0, and I could see her struggling to find the same clothes her friends were wearing. Seeing her become insecure about her height simply because she couldn’t find clothes that fitted her was difficult, because I knew exactly how that felt.
It made me think, why are we still accepting this?
The more I researched it, the more I realised this wasn’t just our experience. So many women had spent years making do, altering clothes or choosing things based on what might fit rather than what they actually wanted to wear.
That’s really where Dena McCullagh London came from.
THE VISION
I want to use the highest-quality fabrics I can source and create clothes to an exceptional standard. Pieces that are made properly, made to last and still feel as good years later as they did when you first bought them.
I’ve always loved timeless, elegant clothes that don’t go out of fashion. I don’t want Dena McCullagh London to be about constantly chasing trends or producing endless collections. I want to build a wardrobe slowly and thoughtfully, one piece at a time, where fit, quality and longevity are never compromised.
I’m starting with denim and the perfect fitted T-shirt because, to me, they’re the foundations of a wardrobe. But the vision is much bigger than that.
Ultimately, I want to create the wardrobe I spent years wishing existed: beautiful, timeless clothes, exceptional quality and proportions that actually work for petite women.
Because after a lifetime of trying to make ourselves fit the clothes, maybe it was never us that needed changing.
